Introduction
This matter concerns the appropriateness of a special education evaluation of a student (Student), conducted by the Pleasant Valley School District (District).1 The Student’s parent (Parent) disagreed with the evaluation, and asked the District to pay for an independent educational evaluation (IEE). The District, as required by the IDEA, then requested this due process hearing to defend the appropriateness of the evaluation.
Issue
A single issue was presented in this due process hearing: Was the District’s reevaluation appropriate and, if not, are the Parents entitled to an IEE at public expense?2
