War Stories
The bodies are hidden in the emails.
I always love a good “foot in mouth” story and my foot in your mouth stories usually involve emails. That’s where the bodies are hidden. That’s where you can see what the school staff are really thinking. A few of the most revealing (and damaging) emails I have seen traded amongst district staff are:
- Director of special education telling her teachers – in no uncertain terms – not to cooperate with parent’s private evaluators. I have seen this one more than once!
- Flat out admissions that a school is unable to program for a child and that the child requires an out of district placement.
- Referring to students with gender neutral names (Jamie) by the wrong pronoun. “He’s doing great in school!” Well “he” is a female and you clearly aren’t familiar with this student.
Always request emails!
